Training, interviewing, quoting, invoicing, coffee machines, and three months of experiences

When Lewis Billows joined team Commhoist in August of this year, he expected the new experiences his graduate role would provide, but what he didn’t expect was the opportunity for further development and the ever-increasing level of responsibility he has been given. In today’s blog we speak to Lewis about his first three months in the graduate role with team Commhoist, what he’s enjoyed and what he is looking forward to over the coming months.

So, Lewis you’re three months into your graduate scheme with Commhoist, what types of projects have you been working on?

“I’ve worked on a really varied set of projects including assisting with aged debtor accounts in a Quantity Surveyor capacity. Approving jobs, and re-quoting jobs when necessary and then invoicing jobs to clients. I’ve also supported with configuring and testing a new IT software Sicon and Site tracker. So it’s been really mixed experience which I’ve enjoyed”

It sounds like you’ve had some great experiences, so what have you enjoyed the most?

The coffee machine – I joke, but the Head Office coffee machine does make a really nice coffee. Apart from the coffee, I’ve loved working with different people on a daily basis and working to overcome new challenges within different departments. I also loved being involved in the interview/ training process for new members of the team.

As part of the graduate scheme, you will undertake formal training, have you completed any training so far?

I have completed IT training on SQL and the Salesforce SiteTracker system. I’m also looking forward to starting a long-term qualification in the new year.

It sounds like you’ve got a busy couple of months coming up, but what are you looking forward to the most?

Christmas and my birthday! I always love a celebration! But, in terms of work I’m looking forward to presenting at a careers event at my old university and getting involved in the EVC industry as Commhoist grows into this sector.

And, finally has anything surprised you about working at Commhoist?

I’ve been really pleasantly surprised by the opportunities I’ve been provided for further development and also the ever-increasing level of responsibility I’ve been given. As the team gains trust in me they are really allowing me to take responsibility for my work.

It’s been great to hear from Lewis on his first three months in the Graduate role with Commhoist. We’ll keep checking in with Lewis so keep your eyes peeled for our next update from him.
