At LIG, we’re proud to support the incredible initiatives championed by our team members through our LIG Give Back programme. Each quarter we receive nominations from the team, this quarter we received six inspiring proposals that highlight the amazing ways our colleagues give back to their communities.
Here are the fantastic initiatives that were put forward:
🔹 Nick Walker – Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast
Nick founded the Redditch Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club in 2023, which has grown from 35 members to 290. It’s more than a club, it’s a family, supporting veterans of all ages, including those in need. Nick’s dedication ensures underprivileged veterans receive the care and support they deserve.
🔹 Darren Haywood – AFC Burnden Park Wildcats U15s
Darren nominated this inspiring girls’ football team, which overcame significant challenges earlier this year. Despite tough matches with fewer players, their resilience and teamwork have brought them close to the league title. Darren highlighted the importance of safe spaces for girls to develop their skills and confidence through sport.
🔹 Rebecca Nestor – Cancer Research UK
Rebecca shared her personal connection to Cancer Research UK, as her mum has benefitted from a trial drug that has supported her health for over a decade. Donations to this cause fund clinical trials, detection equipment, support lines, and research teams that are making a real difference in the fight against cancer.
🔹 Phillip Cole – Son’s Football Team
Phillip nominated his son’s football team, where he also volunteers as a coach. The team would greatly benefit from new footballs, ensuring they can continue to enjoy the sport they love and improve their skills.
🔹 Kevin Blackburn – The Marrionettes Morris Dancing Troupe
Kevin’s daughter dances with The Marrionettes Morris Dancing Troupe, a group that creates community spirit and creativity. The team needs funding for new costumes ahead of their next season.
🔹 Pam Broli – Gemstone Cheer and Dance
Pam’s daughters are part of Gemstone Cheer and Dance, a team that provides opportunities for young people to shine. A donation would support future competitions and help with new kits to keep the team thriving.
Congratulations to this quarter’s recipients:
- Darren Haywood (AFC Burnden Park Wildcats)
- Rebecca Nestor (Cancer Research UK)
- Kevin Blackburn (The Marrionettes Morris Dancing Troupe)
For those who didn’t receive funding this time, their proposals will automatically be included in the next quarterly draw.
A huge thank you to everyone who applied and for the incredible work you do, both in and outside of LIG.
