A Brilliant Operation at a Scottish Icon
LIG recently delivered a complex steel installation project at Edinburgh’s legendary Murrayfield Stadium. The stadium’s scale and structural intricacies demanded a tailored approach, and our team rose to the challenge.
Steel Installation Highlights
Operating in a live stadium environment, our crew demonstrated technical excellence and adaptability:
- Böcker AK52 Deployment: Used as a MEWP (Mobile Elevating Work Platform), the Böcker AK52 enabled safe and efficient access to elevated work zones.
- Slinging Operations: Our team took full control of slinging duties, ensuring accurate and secure lifts throughout the project.
- Crane Integration: A mobile crane was seamlessly incorporated into the workflow to support heavy lifting and streamline operations.
Roof Protection with HPTMs
Adjacent to the feeder run, we installed hand portable track mats (HPTMs) to safeguard the roof surface and establish a secure pathway for riggers. This was especially critical given the unpredictable weather conditions and the complexity of the steelwork layout.
Smart Lifting Strategy
To prevent point loading on the roof, our team devised a strategic lifting method:
- Mats were grouped in sets of 6 or 7
- Slung vertically to navigate tight steelwork gaps
- Delivered safely and efficiently to the rooftop
This thoughtful approach ensured structural integrity while maintaining pace and safety.
Teamwork in Action
Despite the challenging conditions, our crew delivered. Their ability to adapt, communicate, and execute under pressure was a testament to LIG’s culture of excellence.
