Lifting Safety

At LIG, lifting safety isn’t just a box to tick it’s the foundation of everything we do. From planning to onsite operations and post-project reviews, our approach to health and safety is embedded in our culture, driven by experience, and constantly evolving.

We believe that true safety leadership means going beyond compliance. It means anticipating risks before they arise, empowering teams with the right tools and training, and setting standards that others in the industry aspire to meet.

Empowering Lifting Safety

Lifting safety at LIG starts with people. Every team member, from field operatives to senior managers, are encouraged to take ownership of safety outcomes. We strive to create an open reporting culture where concerns are raised early, and solutions are developed collaboratively.

Our Appointed Persons (APs) play a critical role in maintaining high standards. They conduct live digital equipment checks, oversee quarantine protocols, and ensure that lifting operations meet both regulatory and internal benchmarks.

Progress with Purpose

We’re proud to be at the forefront of safety innovation. LIG has implemented:

  • Dual-format certification systems – combining physical documents with QR-linked digital access
  • Redundancy protocols – carrying multiple sets of lifting accessories to prevent delays and ensure safety
  • Lifecycle tracking – monitoring equipment age and usage to proactively schedule replacements
  • Rigorous auditing – conducting both internal and external reviews to maintain objectivity and compliance

These practices aren’t just about meeting regulations they’re about setting new standards for what safe operations should look like at LIG.

Our recent contribution to the Health and Safety Executive’s review of LOLER reflects our desire to help shape a safer future for the entire industry. We’ve shared insights based on real-world experience, including recommendations on inspection frequency, certification practices, and counterfeit risk mitigation.

But our commitment doesn’t stop at policy. We’re continuously investing in training, technology, and process improvement to ensure that lifting safety remains a living, breathing part of our business.
