By Jamie Johnson, Head of IT
LIG has proudly repassed its Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation, reaffirming our commitment to safeguarding client data and maintaining the highest standards of cybersecurity. This achievement isn’t just about compliance, it’s about giving our customers confidence that every interaction with us is secure. It also reflects our wider investment in modern, scalable systems designed to deliver smarter service and create operational efficiencies that directly benefit our clients.
From Legacy Systems to Integrated Operations
Over the past three years, LIG has transitioned from fragmented, manual processes to a modern, integrated IT environment. Our adoption of Sitetracker has been a game-changer, enabling real-time data flow between field and office, streamlining workflows, and improving reporting accuracy. This transformation has reduced the administrative burden, accelerated decision-making, and enhanced collaboration with clients – many of whom also use Sitetracker.
Sitetracker enables:
- Real-time data flow between field and office eliminates delays and human error.
- Mobile app integration allows surveyors to complete forms with 350+ field references, feeding data directly into project workflows.
- Automated job item creation based on survey data reduces admin time and accelerates project delivery.
- Dashboards and reporting provide stakeholders with instant visibility of KPIs, enabling proactive decisions.
Showcasing Innovation at Sitetracker’s London Masterclass
Recently, Jamie Johnson, our Head of IT, presented LIG’s digital journey at Sitetracker’s London Masterclass to an audience of telecoms, EV, and energy sector leaders. The response was overwhelmingly positive. We demonstrated how automation, mobile technology, and data-driven insights have elevated our operations.
- Dynamic Risk Assessments & Paperless Workflows: Field teams complete pre-start briefings, sign-ons, and on-site variations digitally, improving compliance and speed.
- Issues on Site & Change to Survey Tracking: Real-time issue reporting and survey change logs ensure accurate RAMS and CAD drawings, reducing delays and mitigating risk.
- Fleet Management System: Built in-house, this system tracks MOTs, services, repairs, and collisions for cranes, MEWPs, loaders, and vans. Automated calendar events and VOR (Vehicle Off Road) status updates keep resources available and projects on schedule.
- Utilisation Reporting: Advanced analytics help us, and you, make informed decisions about resource allocation and future investments.
These innovations not only improve efficiency but also empower stakeholders to make informed, strategic decisions.
Investing in Systems and People
Technology alone doesn’t deliver transformation; people do. At the event, we proudly showcased the Fleet Management System developed by Sam Darwin during his apprenticeship. His work exemplifies our belief in nurturing talent alongside technological investment because building future-ready infrastructure requires both.
What’s Next?
Our roadmap includes:
- Automating permit creation based on survey data.
- Movement order automation linked to resource location.
- Health & Safety auditing integrated into job workflows.
- Supplier PO creation with finance system integration.
Combined with our cybersecurity commitment, these initiatives position LIG as a trusted, forward-thinking partner for clients seeking operational excellence and secure, collaborative solutions.
